I went into this story having not read the previous book. I don't think that had an impact on my reading experience.
This was a sweet shifter story with a matchmaking King. The tale between a bear prince shifter and a coyote shifter has an almost fairy tale quality with a royal quest, mysterious dreams, and a creepy landscape.

Charlie Cochet is one of those authors who I know will deliver something that I will thoroughly enjoy. I can always sit back and relax knowing I'll be taken on some kind of adventure regardless if it's paranormal, fantasy or a straight-up romance. Well, not so straight I suppose, as that's not what she writes, lol, but you know what I mean.

I love the idea of "having to fulfil a quest to prove you are worthy of ruling your kingdom". After all, it's what authors have been writing about for years. But in this case, that's what the princes might believe, but not necessarily the reason the quest is laid in front of them. While the first book in this series was humorous, this one had more of a hurt/comfort feel to it.

My only disappointment is, as usual lol, that it's not longer. But that's me. I always want more, especially if the characters are interesting and engaging like these are. But there's one more book in this series and we're given a glimpse of what to expect at the end of this book. Buckle up, I think we're in for a ride in book #3! ( )
