Dies ist mein erstes Buch der Autorin Rachel Joyce. Es ist ein wundervolles und warmherziges Buch, das mich von Anfang an gepackt hat. Einiges ist zwar etwas überzogen dargestellt ist, doch das hat mich überhaupt nicht gestört. Mir hat das Buch einfach Freude bereitet.
Die Charaktere sind wirklich toll ausgearbeitet. Mit Margery konnte ich von Anfang an mitfühlen. Es ist schrecklich, was sie als Zehnjährige miterleben musste. Das hat sie bestimmt für ihr Leben geprägt. Sie ist sie zu einer etwas verschrobenen und biederen Frau geworden, die nicht besonders auf sich achtet. Ihr Traum ist in der Versenkung verschwunden, doch anscheinend hat er nur auf den rechten Moment gewartet, um wiederaufzutauchen. Enid Pretty ist schon äußerlich das totale Gegenteil von Margery. Sie plappert munter drauf los. Die Beschreibung von ihr ließ mich gleich an Marilyn Monroe denken, aber schon auf dem Bahnsteig zeigt sie, dass mehr in ihr steckt.
Die beiden ungleichen Frauen brechen zu einer Reise auf, die abenteuerlich und herausfordern wird, bei der sie ihre Stärken entdecken können und die ihnen eine ganz besondere Freundschaft beschert.
Eine bezaubernde Geschichte vom Leben, von Träumen und Freundschaft. ( )
