"None Shall Sleep" is a creepy, bloody serial killer mystery that is fast-paced and honestly unputdownable. I kept trying to take breaks from reading to get other stuff down but kept thinking about it! It's one of the strongest YA thrillers I've read for a hot second. The main characters balance each other out so well, and make for a really solid team; I loved Emma and Travis' dynamic and the way they listened to, encouraged, and respected one another so thoroughly. The writing style is very strong and I think it's clear the author knew the direction she was going in; she makes EVERY chapter count and builds up some aspect of the book super nicely. I definitely want to check out some of Marney's other books. I think if you've read or watched other thriller/serial killer stories, the plot won't feel ~that~ fresh, or might even be a little predictable. But even if you know the tropes, the writing and characters really make "None Shall Sleep" stand out! It's just a strong book and surprisingly full of heart and thoughtful moments. For that alone I'd recommend this one. An interesting concept executed in a way I found difficult to put down. Two teenagers are brought in by the FBI to interview teenage serial killers that have already been apprehended, end up providing insight to an ongoing case. I thought the relationships between characters were great, but the dialogue felt a little awkward. While the conclusion of the case portion of the plot was well written, what followed left something to be desired. Overall I say this is worth the read. I am a huge Ellie Marney fan and have read all of her books. This one takes her writing to the next level; incredible detail and amazing plot. Her best yet. I really hope this book finds an international audience, it deserves it. I usually op shop books or borrow from the library but I always buy Ellie's books so she gets the royalties. I started this one this morning and at about lunchtime the postie delivered a signed bookplate and bookmarks from Ellie. Perfect. A scintillating read. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

In 1982, two teenagers â?? serial killer survivor Emma Lewis and US Marshal candidate Travis Bell â?? are recruited by the FBI to interview convicted juvenile killers and provide insight and advice on cold cases. From the start, Emma and Travis develop a quick friendship, gaining information from juvenile murderers that even the FBI can't crack. But when the team is called in to give advice on an active case â?? a serial killer who exclusively hunts teenagers â?? things begin to unravel. Working against the clock, they must turn to one of the country's most notorious incarcerated murderers for help: teenage sociopath Simon Gutmunsson. Despite Travis's objections, Emma becomes the conduit between Simon and the FBI team. But while Simon seems to be giving them the information they need to save lives, he's an expert manipulator playing a very long game . . . and he has his sights set on Emma. Captivating, harrowing, and chilling, None Shall Sleep is an all-too-timely exploration of not only the monsters that live among us, but also the monsters that liv Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
