This audiobook includes bonus tracks with interviews from Shauna Niequist (Present Over Perfect), Hillary McBride (Mothers, Daughters, and Body Image), Pete Enns (How the Bible Actually Works), and more from Jen's podcast, For the Love!

No more hiding or people-pleasing up in here, sisters. No more being sidelined in your own life. It is time for us to be brave, to claim our gifts and quirks and emotions. You are set free and set up and set on fire.

NOW you can get busy doing what you were placed on this planet to do. NOW you can be honest, honest, honest about all of it, even the hard stuff, even the humiliating stuff, even the secret stuff. NOW you can walk in your convictions of faith and ask new questions unafraid. NOW you can be so free, because you are not searching for value from any source other than your own beautiful soul made piece by piece by God who adores you and is ready to get on with the business of unleashing you into this world.

In this audiobook, I break it down into five self-reflective categoriesâ??who I am, what I need, what I want, what I believe, and how I connectâ??and by working your way through them, you will learn to

  • own your space, ground, and gifts (they are YOURS, sister);
  • be strong in your relationships and lay down passive aggression, resentment, drama, and compliance;
  • say GUILT-FREE what you want and what you need; and
  • welcome spiritual curiosity and all the fantastic change that doing so creates.
  • You with me, beloveds? If we do this work on our own selves now, not only will we discover a life truly worth living, but we will free our daughters to rise up behind us, with spines straight, heads up, and coated in our strength… (mehr)

    Such an enjoyable, fun and empowering book! Full of anecdotes, life truths and dialogue on how we, women can and should be more accepting of ourselves and live more authentic, full lives.
    I especially enjoyed the audiobook which includes extra material such as clips from Jen’s podcasts and asides.
    I laughed, I cried and I learned - a great book overall! ( )

    Fair warning: I have a blind spot for Jen Hatmaker. Listened to this one on Audible--I listened to another book of hers as well, and this one also felt like a friend just chatting at me, telling me what I needed to do or validating choices I've already made. I'll be listening to sections of it again, I'm sure. ( )

    Thank you to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for the advanced copy and the opportunity to read and review this book!

    Fierce, Free and Full of Fire is Jen Hatmaker doing what she does best. Hatmaker is honest to a fault and despite the serious content, she's seriously funny. Like the world's best therapist this book will make you laugh while you work through your stuff. The book is loosely organized into sections designed to help women in "five self-reflective areas: who I am, what I need, what I want, what I believe, and how I connect" (Hatmaker). Dividing the work into areas may make parts of the book less relevant to you personally, but please take my advice and read the whole thing. The parts that don't specifically apply to you will almost certainly apply to someone you know. By helping us all address the areas where we struggle and identify the areas where we're strong Hatmaker is equipping us to be the strong women the world needs today and to raise the strong women the world will need in the future. There are a lot of good things in this book. As Jen Hatmaker said of the book, some chapters really spoke to me, and some didn't at all. ( )

    Thanks to Nelson Books and NetGalley for a digital advance reader's copy. All comments and opinions are my own.

    This is the first Jen Hatmaker book I've read, and I had no preconceived ideas of who she is or her style. It wasn't the book I was expecting, as I was hoping for a more contemplative and faith-based perspective. The title Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire totally describes Jen. If she was a friend of mine I think I could only take her in small doses. She is a strong-willed, opinionated, and intense person who has thought about serious issues and isn't afraid to share what she thinks and tell you how she got there. This often humorous book is written for women, assuming readers are questioning similar areas (i.e. self-esteem, marriage, parenting, eating disorders, social justice, community, friendship) and covers these topics in a way to boost confidence and support personal growth. She does mention that not every topic will resonate with every reader, and I agree. Overall it's a supportive read for those who are looking for a leader with a strong personality to encourage them to confidently step out in faith. Unfortunately there is less discussion of spiritual faith and more encouragement to have faith in yourself. ( )
