I was not overly fond of how the characters were illustrated, especially how childlike the main girl was compared to the guy. It just seemed strange. ( ) For my birthday back in February, my in-laws decided to give me a collection of “volume 1’s” of six manga series (carefully curated by my sister-in-law). This was lovely, of course. A lot of other books happened since then, but now I’ve decided to go on a little manga marathon and read all of them. So I picked up Sign of Affection. The characters were cute and adorable, and made me smile. Romance is not really my genre, but I liked the art. It made the characters’ emotions shine. I liked how being young and uncertain of yourself and falling in love for the first time came alive. I haven’t come across manga featuring sign language before, so kudos to the authors for doing something different. I did wish that Itsuomi would stop ruffling Yuki’s hair all the time. She is not five, come on. Please… This manga is light and fluffy, and was a perfect quick read for a sunny Sunday morning. Oh, wow. Everything about this manga is so adorably cute. I loved the artwork, the sign language, and the international club. It’s also nice to get a story centered around college students. Itsuomi (love-interest dude) is so tall and a lover of languages. Right now, Yuki, the main character, is just a girl who’s like “why my heart beating like this!?!” lol. But I’m interested in learning more about her. She has such a hyper-focus on the smoothness, elegance, and size of Itsuomi’s hands. Of course, she has to look at them when he’s trying to sign to her, but you can tell when it stops being from necessity to more of a piqued interest. I didn’t know sign language users could’ve their own distinct styles. In the story, Yuki comments how some characters sign very sharply or strongly. That makes sense. People when they talk have their own distinct styles, so, of course, that applies in all types of communication. Overall, I’m super excited to read more. aw snap, I already see a love triangle forming. Childhood best friend rarely, if ever, wins. Oushi should give up, but I kind of think they would be cute together too. Itsuomi’s just more direct. Review of vol 2 Such a good start to this series! I have the feeling it's going to be one of those luxuriously slow types of slow-burn romances. I don't think I have ever read a shojo romance story that features a deaf lead character, so this was so interesting for me. I know minimal sign language, but it's strictly ASL. So the note talking about Japanese sign language was both interesting and informational! Yuki is an interesting character as well. Her current world is pretty small, but she dreams of expanding it and seeing more of the wider world. The budding romance between her and Itsuomi is so cute! They seem like they would be opposites, but they fit together surprisingly well. I do foresee there being some sort of love triangle or unrequited love plotline regarding the childhood friend. I could end up getting proven wrong, but I don't think I will be. I'm eager to read more! keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

"Yuki, who's always been deaf, is used to communicating with sign language and her phone. But she's not used to English, so when a tourist from overseas asks for directions, she nearly panics...until a handsome stranger steps in to help. His name is Itsuomi, and it turns out he's a friend of a friend. A charismatic globetrotter, Itsuomi speaks three languages, but he's never had a deaf friend. The two feel drawn to each other and plan a date on a romantic winter's night...but Yuki's friend is afraid that she might be setting herself up to get hurt. Could this be something real? Or will these feelings melt away with the snow?"--Amazon.com. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
