Cruel. Heartless. Quarantined. The ruthless boys of Everlake Prep never saw lockdown coming. But the virus isn't their number one enemy. I am. And as if being confined to a boarding school for the elite wasn't bad enough, now I'm stuck in isolation with the boys who hate me most too. Saint, Kyan and Blake. The Night Keepers. Or so they call themselves. They've embodied the Native American legend which lives in this valley, taking on the role of the monsters who lurk in the forest. And though they act like beasts, they may also be the most tempting creatures I've ever seen. With the virus escalating and my dad's name splashed through the news, my entire world is falling apart. What he did has cast a dark shadow over me. And the Night Keepers want to make me pay for his crimes. Then things went from bad to worse when I touched the sacred rock. A rock which supposedly holds a curse to bind me as the Night Keepers' slave. And as crazy as it sounds, I decided to play along. Because there are things about me they don't know. Things my dad has hidden from me for years. All I can be sure of is that I have to find a way to escape this school. But until then, those savage boys are making my life a living hell. As the virus sweeps through the country and the world twists into something ugly and unknown, the kings of this school become true monarchs. Even the teachers bow to them now. And I'm kinda glad about that 'stay six feet away from one another' rule, because without it, I know they'd rip me apart. At least there's a silver lining. I'm cosying up to Coach Monroe. My hot as hell, brooding P.E. teacher who has a vendetta of his own against the Night Keepers. And with his help, I may succeed at doing more than escaping the clutches of these heartless fiends. I might even destroy them along the way. My father taught me how to be strong. How to prepare for the end of the world. So this isn't going to be the end of my world, mark my words. But if I'm able to use my mind and body to bring these assholes to their knees, it might just be the end of theirs. This is a high school bully reverse harem series which means the main character will end up with multiple love interests. It may have triggers for some as it has off the charts angst, dark love-hate themes, scenes of intense bullying, sexual scenes and some violence (not aimed towards the main character) and is not for the faint of heart. Prepare to enrol at Everlake Prep. Bring your hand sanitiser, face masks and toilet paper to barter with, but don't expect to hold onto them for long. Because it's time to go into quarantine with the Night Keepers. And everything you own now belongs to them.… (mehr)

I DNF’d but that’s not the books fault. I can see this book would be loved by a lot of people; however, I have come to the realization intense bully romance isn’t for me. Highly recommend this one though if you enjoy this trope.

To explain why I gave three stars and not four, the female main character, up until the last few chapters, was very much a victim. It was driving me absolutely crazy. I had such a high hopes for her. She boasted about being great and kickboxing and self-defense, but until the last few chapters you don't actually see any of this. She is such a victim. I just don't have time for that lol. Another reason that I only gave it three stars is because it is such a long book. So many pages just talk about this generalized thing.

There were some points in the book that I enjoyed. Like they're one-on-one time was pretty good. But I still don't understand why they blamed her for the apparent deception of her father, it wasn't her fault. But whatever.

I stuck with this book because a couple friends tell me that it picks up in book 2, so I am going to head into book two. And if you guys know me at all, you know that if I'm going to read book too that means I'll read book three and four as well because I hate leaving a series unfinished. At least the series keeps my attention enough that I know for fact if I were to hang it up now I'd be wondering what happens next, so I'm going to read it. If you've noticed a couple of other series that I started to read and put them on my do not finish list those I can live without knowing. Does that make sense?

Anyway if you have the time, then sure read the book. It's interesting to see Monroe throughout the book. He's my favorite character. With a close second being kyan. ( )

I have yet to not like somethin from Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti, and this book is no exception. It hits a bit close to home with the pandemic, but its still a fun read and almost a nice way to unpack it. I'm certainly more used to them writing fantasy genre, and kept expecting something to come of the Night Keeper oath and the stone on the beach, but even without the fantasy element its a great read. The only hitch I encountered is that it is technically a high school, which puts the characters a bit too young for me. They're seniors, which theoretically could make them 18. But this is some pretty mature content for anyone in high school, so for my own conscience I prefer to think of it as a college, and age them up to early 20s. But otherwise, I like the book, and am racing for the next one. ( )
