TOG Y4. very weird, slow going and hard to understand due to an abundance of classical (and otherwise) allusions. I'm not sure why I keep getting drawn to this poem. Perhaps it's because I have large hunks of in memorized and use it on occasion to talk piffle. In many ways, I can see as an older person, that Eliot, who wasn't all that old when he wrote this, didn't really understand how you can move beyond a lot of the angst that your younger self thinks you'll never recover from. Still, there's something about the mermaids at the end that still moves me. Read it for yourself. Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock", commonly known as "Prufrock", is the first professionally published poem by American-born, British poet T. S. Eliot (1888â??1965). Eliot began writing "Prufrock" in February 1910, and it was first published in the June 1915 issue of Poetry: A Magazine of Verse at the instigation of Ezra Pound (1885â??1972). It was later printed as part of a twelve-poem pamphlet (or chapbook) titled Prufrock and Other Observations in 1917. At the time of its publication, Prufrock was considered outlandish,[3] but is now seen as heralding a paradigmatic cultural shift from late 19th-century Romantic verse and Georgian lyrics to Mode Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
