In Dublin the walls are coming down between Man and Faery. That means that the Buffy-like services of MacKayla Lane-the 22-year-old Georgia-born sidhe-seer (or one who can see the Fae) and slayer are required. Mac is determined to kick the nasties back to faeryland and to avenge her sister Alina's murder by the Fae's dark Lord Master. She's also seeking the sinister Sinsar Dubh, a book of black magic. Jericho Barrons, Mac's enigmatic protector, is a purveyor of books and antiquities (and of course, is a major hunk). As Mac takes direction from Jericho, she must resist the sexy dangers of V'lane, a death-by-sex Fae, and learn about her true family of Irish sidhe-seers.… (mehr)

AHHHHHHH....Mac and Jericho are going to drive me insane!!!!

Second book of the series and I am no closer to figuring out just who (what ) Jericho Barrons is and why he is so protective of Mac. Yes, he needs her help in finding the OOP's but the little things he says and does...and a certain scene in the Burren will really have you screaming in frustration.

Mac, I so agree with Barrons, smarten up girl or dumb luck isn't going to get you too far. Get out of your own way, learn to listen to what's not being said and dammit, stop being such a Barbie doll. Okay, got that aggravation out of my system. Mac is young and I know her world has been turned upside down but you can only bury your head in the sand for so long. Her life in Georgia is never going to be the same, even if she does make it back, so why does she torture herself dreaming about it.

Now we have other interesting characters to contemplate in the next book. The old woman, Rowena, is she the mistress of the Sidhe-Seers or just another crazy old lady with an agenda that means danger for Mac. Christian, the Scottish guy at Trinity who knew Mac's sister. Why did he freak when he saw her journal and why did he want to go somewhere private and talk? Lord Master, he backed down from Jericho...interesting.

I don't want to say much about the plot other than....there are so many things going on at once it almost gives you whiplash trying to keep up. But keep up we try seeing as this story is full of twists and turns that we crave to find out where they will lead us.

I'm off to start the next book: Faefever. ( )

Blood Fever (2006) (Young Bond #2) by Charlie Higson. Before there was the Bond we know, there was a younger version of him. This one is not as certain as the adult is, but you can see what is to come through this series of tales of the teen Bond.
He is a student at Eton. Bond is also the newest member of the secret “Danger Club” that has him escaping from the confines of his room after hours, traipsing over roofs like a cat burglar and meeting with like minded friends. And perhaps even smoking a contraband ciggie or two. Nothing too serious, just a bit of fun. But when they are almost caught at it and have to flee, Bond drops into a courtyard of a house that contains the artifacts of a Roman cult. One of the school masters is there along with a villain called Smiler. Much like the Joker in America, this Scot has a carved-in grin that goes from ear to ear. He was a gang member that turned informer and this was his payback.
There is also a family that is murdered onboard their yacht while traveling in the Mediterranean . The only survivor is a teen girl that is captured by the pirates and taken away to Sardinia. And Sardinia just also happens to be the destination for a holiday school trip for a group from Eton. And as an added coincidence, Bond’s cousin, the retired structural engineer, happens to live there in a fabulous home he designed with his partner, a renowned Italian artist.
It is also the place where “Count” Ugo Carnifex has recreated a complex dedicated to ancient Rome, complete with grand palazzos, a miniature coliseum and even a magnificent aqueduct.
You just know he is the genius mastermind with an evil plot at hand, but the fun with a Bond novel is the uncovering of the plot and Bond’s struggle to overcome the forces of evil arrayed against him. With the help of the unexpected allies that manage to come to his aid, he saves the day.
No that wasn’t a spoiler, that is the basic plot of every hero story ever told. Good always wins, and while even the young Bond may be tarnished, he is still the knight that fights the good fight.
This is a nice read for the followers of Bond, and I suspect a great introduction to the series for the younger reader. You get to see what informs the adult Bond while still reading a darn good adventure tale. ( )

I want to read a romance. I kept getting confused on this book if this was the girl who wanted her cherry popped--but no, that was the other KMM series I read. So the voice? It's not different. And it comes down to this little fact: I have no inclination to read 9 books in this character's voice. I don't care how sexy it is. I'm really glad I left that review for the first one, which could've just read like my first couple pages of this:
"I don't know you guys."
Actual review:

(I know, It does sound like I'm convincing myself.)
I still don't know. I never will. No time, patience, or inclination. DNF, 12% no rating.

4 STARS

A Much noticed improvement, MacKayla dear I think you redeemed yourself on this one. Still too much describing and unnecessary monologues but it can be overlooked for the much strong plot line on this one.

This one tugged at my emotions and actually surprised me, it still have flows and plot holes that I can’t wrap my mind over half of the occurred event.

AND I STILL HATE V’LANE that douche !
