Plenty of twists and good characters; a great start to this series. ( ) This is a cute cozy mystery, though the pacing threw me off a bit. It's slow to start and then ends in a rush, and I would have preferred more balance. Still, it was fun, and I really enjoyed the bookish magic Josie experiences mid-way through the book. My favorite parts are the side characters, though, including the black cat Rodney. I loved this for a sweet and witchy treat, a cozy with a little extra sparkle from both the writing and the magic. A young librarian moves to a small town only to discover that the library is in danger of being turned into a resort! A purry black cat named Rodney and a colorful cast of human characters add lively fun to this mystery. I love that in this one, the magic is bookish! I'll definitely continue with this series. This fall my favorite new witchy discoveries are this series and the Paramour Bay Cozies by Kennedy Layne (also featuring a charismatic cat). These series and the newly released Cackle are setting quite a high bar for witchy mysteries! Working in the Library of Congress, Josie and her coworker overhear a corrupt deal being made by a senator’s aide. After they turn him in, her coworker disappears the next day, and Josie hightails it out of town to work in a very small library in Oregon. She experiences a strange occurrence on the flight, which only makes sense later on. She also learns that her new job is likely to end soon, as it seems the library is slated to be demolished. Trying not to panic over losing her safe hiding place, Josie soon realizes she has another problem to deal with: her mother finally admits to her that she is descended from a long line of witches. Josie is now trying to fit in with small town life, staying hidden from hitmen, and coping with new magical powers. It’s a fun cozy mystery, with delightful characters, and a fresh storyline. Josie’s witchy powers are especially evident when she helps patrons find just the book they need, which makes me wonder if some of the librarians I know also have special powers, since they, too, are so good at finding books for me. I’m certainly looking forward to the next book in this witty series. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
