This vintage book contains a famous cookbook written by Fannie Farmer in the nineteenth-century. It is an extensive and comprehensive general reference cookbook which is still being reprinted and updated to this day. It is famous for a more rigorous approach to writing recipes than had been common up to that point, and is still a useful cooking resource for modern readers. Easy-to-digest and full of interesting recipes and handy tips, this book would make for a great addition to any collection of cooking literature. It is not to be missed by the discerning collector. Many antiquarian books such as this are increasingly rare and expensive, and it is with this in mind that we are republishing this book now in an affordable, modern edition - complete with a specially commissioned introduction on home cooking.… (mehr)

This was in my family from 1946. Passed on every generation since. Invaluable, even if many preparation details are out of date. ( )

Someday I'll perhaps cook something from this book. It belonged to my grandmother and is inscribed with her name and the date - Dec 1928. I'm not really sure what this book was doing during the past 40 years - my aunt gave it to me a couple of years ago and my grandmother died in the early 1970's. ( )

I just have a soft spot in my heart for this old-fashioned book, which my mother had. As a teen, I made sugar cookies nearly every day for my two brothers and sister, using many of the variations. How hard it was to chose which one! I used Blue Bonnet margarine, which Mother bought by the box from Iowa. Margarine sold in Minnesota could not have added color, thanks to the influence of the dairy industry. Each pound came in a white chunk, like lard, with a pellet of coloring that you were supposed to mash into the margarine. We never had the patience. Blue Bonnet came already colored and wrapped in foil, four sticks to the pound, and that was fine by us.
