Easter is approaching, and Teeny Witch and her three witchy aunts - Aunt Icky, Aunt Ticky and Aunt Vicky - are decorating eggs for the big day. As they discuss the holiday on the morrow, mention is made of the Easter Bunny, and of how lucky it is to capture him - so lucky it is like magic! Teeny immediately decides that she will do that very thing, but when she and her cat head to the park, she begins to see a bewildering array of massive rabbits, all of whom seem difficult to catch. What is going on...?

Teeny Witch and the Tricky Easter Bunny is the fourth entry in author Liz Matthews and illustrator Carolyn Loh's eight-volume Teeny Witch picture-book series that I have read, following upon Teeny Witch and the Great Halloween Ride, Teeny Witch and Christmas Magic and Teeny Witch and the Perfect Valentine. Like the others, it features a sweet, winsome witch heroine in Teeny, and is set at a holiday. The entire collection was published in 1991, well after I had moved on from picture-books, but I would imagine that if I had first encountered them in childhood, I would remember them fondly. There's not much to them, really, but they feature fun, witchy stories - something for which I have a decided weakness - and artwork that, while a little too cartoonish for my taste, is colorful and cute. I particularly liked the egg-coloring scene here, as each witch aunt favors the color - green for Aunt Icky, purple for Aunt Ticky, and red for Aunt Vicky - in which she is habitually clothed. Recommended to picture-book readers who appreciate witchy fare, or who have read and enjoyed other stories about Teeny Witch. ( )
