Valentine's Day is around the corner, and Teeny Witch begins to wonder what she should get for her beloved aunts, Icky, Ticky and Vicki. Passing a candy shop and spying an extra fancy box of chocolates on display, she decides that this would make the perfect gift. Unfortunately, the box is quite expensive, and Teeny Witch won't have enough money until Valentine's Day itself, when she gets her allowance. As she helps her aunts with various tasks throughout the week, she checks back anxiously at the store, watching as all the boxes of chocolate sell off. Has Valentine's Day been ruined? Or do Teeny Witch's aunts have a surprise in store for her...?

The third picture-book I have read, following upon Teeny Witch and the Great Halloween Ride and Teeny Witch and Christmas Magic, to feature this witchy little heroine and her three loving aunts, Teeny Witch and the Perfect Valentine pairs a sweet, ultimately heartwarming tale from author Liz Matthews, with cute, cartoon-style artwork from illustrator Carolyn Loh. Although the story was somewhat predictable - I was able to guess where those boxes of chocolate went, from the first - it was still engaging, and I appreciated the implicit message that the best way to show our love is to help our loved ones at all times, rather than just giving them presents at holidays. As I have mentioned in some of my other reviews, these Teeny Witch books won't ever be personal favorites, either as witchy picture-books - a particular interest of mine - or as holiday tales, but they are cute, and will undoubtedly have appeal for the target audience.
