I thought this story was about the abuse of native type people by settlers, but it's a love story! Very exciting, the descriptions are word pictures that make you feel that you are seeing things yourself. Since I live in the area, it makes me want to go to Cooperstown & try to find the area talked about! Is Mt. Vision in walking distance? The first 200 pages of this book were just awful--the first day literally ends on the 200th page, so you can imagine how overwrought with detail the prose is--but the story got pretty good after that. I probably wouldn't recommend going out of your way to read The Pioneers, but if you've started struggling through it already, you should soldier on to the end. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

HTML: New York-based author James Fenimore Cooper was an important cultural figure who contributed significantly to the development of a uniquely American voice in literature, one imbued with a keen appreciation for the mysteries of the natural world. The Pioneers is part of Cooper's sweeping Leatherstocking Tales series that delves into history of the young United States and its frontier spirit, much of which is seen from the perspective of quintessential pioneer Natty Bumppo. .Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

Cooper is a masterful storyteller. I would recommend this book (and the others I've previously read) to anyone who likes Native American and Colonial American history and a love of the outdoors . ( )
