This was okay, a little predictable. A quick read. Nice Christmas story. ( )

I have read to of Richard Preston's books, one on the big trees, and one on the excitement of scientific discovery. I thought both of those were both very well written and researched as well as exciting. When I saw he had written a Christmas story I got this book, Boat of Dreams. As his other books, this one is excelent. It has a well constructed original plot, likeable fully developed characters, and the conclusion of the story is not easily guessed at, but still very memorable and positive.

The story is suitable for any age from early reading through adult . ( )

-- I read Preston's BOAT OF DREAMS in one sitting. Typeface is large. From their home a widow & two young children can see ocean. After school kids come home to find lg. man with b.o. watching TV. Mother struggles to pay rent. Word C-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s in title hints at happy ending. --
