I had a hard time getting into this...all I could think in the beginning was if she wanted to know who she was, why didn't do DNA or go to the police? I thought she wasn't going to be able to make the amnesia theme work in today's world, seemed like a 40's thing. But it did work, mostly. The character change towards the end in the twists was a little unbelievable. I did become interested and involved and finished it quickly. ( ) You will love this book if you enjoy multiple unreliable POVs and timelines! Addison has had amnesia for two years yet she has made some good friends and is about to wed her love, who comes from a wealthy family. Blythe, her future mother in law, is not keen on the marriage because who is the real Addison? Julienne, who has a 7 year old daughter, has lost his wife Cassandra and promises his daughter that her Mom will come back one day. While Dr. Julienne was attending a work conference he notices Addison and is sure that it is his long lost love Cassandra. Addison/Cassandra takes what he says at face value because he shows her pictures of her and him and their child. Well that’s only the beginning of the story. I read this book in a day and was gripped with the smart changing of storylines that kept me guessing until the very end what was truly going to happen! Smart writing and a great plot line, authors Liv Constantine blow me away again in what I now think is my favorite book by them. This was a very odd read. Although I am not a big fan of amnesia plots, it starts off pretty good with an interesting mystery surrounding the MC's identity and past. I liked the build up too but when the "twist" comes, it goes off the rails in a big way. I can't really go into how bizarre and illogical it becomes without spoilers but it was like it became a different book. I rated it a 3 star read because the twist doesn't really happen until 3/4 of the way through so most of the book is okay. I wanted to like this book, because The Last Mrs. Parrish was superb. However, this one was disappointing. It was way too outlandish and soap opera-ish for me; it requires me to suspend my disbelief too much. (Yes, the Last Mrs. Parrish had soap opera elements as well, but the novel was so good that it didn’t matter. The characters were so interesting that it didn’t matter.) I almost wonder if I missed something. What was the point of making Blythe one of the narrators? What was the significance of Darby? Red herring? And the end ties up in such a nice bow without additional twists. Just not as good as I had expected. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
