I inherited it when my mother died in 2009. My mother's favorite recipe was Olla Podrida pg. 540, and mine is Zuppa Inglese, or English Trifle on page 710. ( ) With lots of great illustrations (and not just of food!), this book looks at the cuisine of the world's major cultures throughout history. You can have csereszhyeleves (Hungarian cream of celery soup), sursteg (Danish sour roast), ratzelach (Polish potato pancakes), and wash it down with glogg (from Scandinavia, made with red wine and aquavit).
