"Rock Paper Scissors is the latest exciting domestic thriller from the queen of the killer twist, New York Times bestselling author Alice Feeney. Think you know the person you married? Think again... Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time. When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs. Self-confessed workaholic and screenwriter Adam Wright has lived with face blindness his whole life. He can't recognize friends or family, or even his own wife. Every anniversary the couple exchange traditional gifts--paper, cotton, pottery, tin--and each year Adam's wife writes him a letter that she never lets him read. Until now. They both know this weekend will make or break their marriage, but they didn't randomly win this trip. One of them is lying, and someone doesn't want them to live happily ever after. Ten years of marriage. Ten years of secrets. And an anniversary they will never forget"--… (mehr)

The first two-thirds of the book was slow. Both Amelia and Adam seem to be up to no good. The last third of the book contains plot twists and coincidences that are unlikely, but interesting if you can suspend disbelief.
My book club read this book and we had a lively discussion about the unreliable, despicable characters. We also talked about the various twists in the story. Also, we made choices for actors to play parts for a movie version-Nicole Kidman for Robin, Bradley Cooper or Johnny Depp for Adam, and Reese Witherspoon for Amelia. Overall, the members enjoyed the book. ( )

Things have not been going in the marriage of Adam & Amelia Wright for a while when Amelia mysteriously wins a weekend away at a chapel in Scotland. After driving through a snowstorm to the chapel, they arrive to find it locked and dark. They walk around to the back looking for a backdoor and when they get back to the front, the front doors are open. They think that's odd but they still go in the chapel and get ready for their weekend away.

The chapters alternate between Adam and Amelia and letters written to Adam on their anniversaries leading up to this weekend away. Strange things happen during this weekend and their history together comes out through the letters, which was an interesting twist.

I enjoyed the book and didn't see the twist at the end. I try not to spend a lot of time trying to figure things out beforehand and this was a good twist. ( )

This is an ok bit silly book.
Married couple Adam and Amelia head to a remote Scottish location with their dog to try and heal their marriage.
Adam is a screen writer Amelia works for Battersea Dogs home.
Things go wrong, they are being spied on and tricked by a lady called Robin who was Adam's original wife. She is the daughter of Henry Winter the man who wanted Adam to write screenplays based on his book.
Far fetched easy to read. ( )

I saw a lot of the end coming because it was laughably obvious. There were a few things I didn't guess, though mostly because they were stupid additions that didn't add anything besides a cheap shock value. The best part was being set in Scotland. Meh. ( )

Psychological dramas are far from my favorite genre, but Alice Feeney does a really great job with the format of three unreliable narrators. This spooky take is set in the hinterlands of Scotland during a winter blizzard in an old church converted to a home, but abandoned. A couple whose marriage is rocky a wins a weekend stay there and agree to try to make it work. But odd things keep happening and the third narrator who happens to be the man’s first wife, steps in.
There are surprises and twists throughout and a grisly, but satisfying ending. The bad guys (actually all three narrators have major mental issues),aren’t going to get away with murder. ( )
