Breach of Honor was a good reading choice for a number of reasons. It is a credible look at how a woman who kills in self-defense is then convicted and sent to prison. There are a lot of things going on in the novel besides that — criminal activity, corruption at various levels of government — but Leah’s journey from good cop to inmate was what intrigued me the most. Cantore does a great job of exploring domestic abuse. It’s easy to say the victim should walk away from her abuser, but this novel shows how just how complex the issue is. Leah’s spiritual journey is interesting as well. The novel’s timeline is years, not days or months — that really made me think. Leah spent years in prison waiting for her day in court. While most don’t hit bottom in prison, her rejection and then acceptance of God rang true. For those who like twists and turns in their suspense, there are plenty. No one in this book is above suspicion! A romantic thread plays a small part of the novel.

I anticipate a lot of discussion at my book club. There really is a lot to talk about in this recommended read.

Recommended.

Well worth the wait! Janice Cantore’s newest novel is filled with suspense that will keep audiences turning pages until they reach the end of the book!
Leah Radcliff is a police officer whose home life is not what she thinks it is, and when tragedy strikes there, life gets a lot more complicated. After being convicted of killing her husband, she ends up in jail. When she hits bottom, she has to decide to either humble herself or allow depression to take her under. Leah’s cellmate is someone she knew from a long time ago, and that just may help Leah return to the God she once followed.
Clint Tanner has been an avid admirer of Leah for years, but once she was married, he focused on his career and faith. Now, with Leah behind bars, Clint wants to find out what was really happening inside the police department. What Clint doesn’t know is he is about to open a Pandora’s box that just might kill him!
I enjoyed the story that has multiple threads of action happening simultaneously along with faith that is tested time and again. The main characters must either keep believing with hope or allow those who want death and destruction to win. The book was easy to get lost in, especially towards the end where not all players were what they appeared to be. In the end, there is hope after tragedy and lives can begin again with hard work and love. I was sorry to come to an end, though I wonder if it is the end for the character of Leah Radcliff or will there be another book?

Janice Cantore’s experience as a law enforcement officer shows in all her books, including her newest release. Breach of Honor also shows some of the more emotional side of the job.

Leah is an interesting character, sworn to protect her community but also hiding a secret in her marriage to another police officer. Things quickly come to a head, and we follow Leah through her journey while also taking a rollercoaster ride of danger and intrigue with Clint Tanner who is insistent on proving Leah’s testimony.

The best thing about this book is Leah’s heart change—both spiritually and where it concerns her job. And of course, there is all that action and suspense. With the underlying theme of domestic abuse, Cantore also gives resources and suggestions on what to do if it’s happening to you.

Breach of Honor by Janice Cantore is a Christian romantic suspense story. The story is so full of action and suspense that kept me reading to see what was going to happen. There are so many things I enjoyed about this story. I really enjoyed the strength Leah has to endure her situation as well as the constant search for the truth by Officer Tanner. I liked how realistic the story is where it come to her father’s need to let the legal team go. I especially enjoyed how Leah was given the perfect cell mate and how she finally turned her life back to God. I appreciate how Leah felt so many normal things about her relationship with her husband and why she did not mention it to others.

This story touches on faith as well as sensitive topics as abuse, murder, and legal injustice. I have been waiting for this book and it is even better than I expected.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Tyndale House Publishing. This is my honest review. ( )

This is a read that kept on giving, expect the unexpected, and even when you think you know the answers be ready for a surprise!

I loved the faith of some of these characters, and they don't give up on those they care about and love. Sometimes it takes extreme measures to open their eyes.

This story has a lot of different subjects, from abuse to greed, from murder to drugs, and you keep rooting for the good guys to win.

While this is a page turner, the story does go deep, from trials to prison, from injustice to justice, and we put faces to these characters, and in the end, I really wanted to continue in the lives of those I now cared about!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Tyndale House, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
