This is a cute second chance romance with a dose of magic and Halloween thrown in. It was perfect for my life right now - I’m busy and tired because of peak marathon training, election volunteering, and my team is in the World Series so I don’t have a lot of time and I am sleep deprived. This was the perfect thing that didn’t require much of me and could help me wind down when I needed to. There’s a second one in this series which I don’t feel especially compelled to read but I might someday anyway. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

HTML: New York Times Bestseller Erin Sterling casts a delightful spell with a spine-tingling romance full of wishes, witches, and hexes gone wrong. "A delightful and witty take on witchy mayhem." Popsugar Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths...and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn't use her magic this way, but with only an "orchard hayride" scented candle on hand, she isn't worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two. That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town's ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town's ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all. Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it's too late. .Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

I liked a lot of things about this novel. It's pretty funny, with lots of cute banter and witty rejoinders between the two leads, Vivienne and Rhys. It's got great Halloween ambiance, set in a small town in Georgia that celebrates the season all through October. And it's pretty witchy. Lots of magical mayhem: curses and hexes and ghosts and spells, oh my, etc. etc.
I could of used more, though.
More romance. Things felt a little flat between Rhys and Vivi-- I was told about their attraction, but I didn't really feel it.
More smut. Sexy times were quickly dealt with or immediately fade to black/closed door. This is obviously a personal preference, though.
More climax, and not the sexy kind. The ending really felt anticlimactic. Clues were kinda just dumped on the characters by other characters. It all came together very quickly, and I was kind of dissatisfied by the rush. ( )
