I don’t think that I would spend more than $2 to buy a book. In this book, Stone resorts to contract killing and gets the NYPD chief to go along as his accomplice. The stories in this series all seem to start off well then plunge into a plot chaos and bizarre endings. Book #58. These are easy books to read and are very enjoyable...until this one. I finished it, but was tempted to put it down as it got boring about an hour into it as we learned about various Italian Mafiosi. You'll recall that Stone was once married into a higher class Italian mob family, but this was really course and unsavory. There are so many murders in this book, that one begins to feel like the only good goombah is a dead one. C'mon Woods, you can do better. As always you have to love Stone Barrington. I love Stone but keep thinking that one day he will settle down with one woman. This story had everything that makes a great Stone Barrington novel. I love all the characters and all the action. These are easy books to read and are very enjoyable. I received a copy of this book from edelweiss for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. Also, Stone is once again involved in something illegal - in order to preserve his own life. However, this is certainly a new direction in the last book or so - for Stone to break the law.
This one was a bit interesting. ( )
