A cute picture book version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but this Narnia fan is disappointed by the execution. There is an obvious need for streamlining the story, but events are altered and words are put in characters' mouths in ways that warp the story and its characterizations. Beautiful art, though. ( )

Great book and great movie. I feel like this story has a hidden message in it. Four children go to live with an elderly, eccentric relative during the war. He lives in a gigantic house with so many rooms. The children occupy themselves by playing and must listen to the rules set by the housekeeper. One day they are playing and break a window, and all decide to hide. They happen to hid in old wardrobe that leads to a magical land called Narnia. They defeat evil and free Narnia. They are gone for years, but when they leave the wardrobe, it has only been minutes. ( )

This book is about siblings that are placed at a home during a war. At this house, the youngest sister finds a wardrobe that leads them to a magical place called Narnia. This book is good for all age readers and the illustrations really add to children's imagination as they are reading. Teachers can use this book to teach about personification as well as teach across the curriculum. The war ties into social studies. I highly recommend this book. ( )

Summary- A wonderful group of siblings find adventure when the youngest sister, Lucy, finds a wardrobe that leads to another world. Narnia is a place full of wonders and mystery. They become different people when they are there. They meet the Lion, the Witch, and many other characters throughout the story.

Personal Reaction- I read this book several times and it never seemed to get old to me. I enjoyed this book because it was relatable and filled with adventure. I had the wildest imagination growing up so it was definitely one of my favorites. Narnia was an escape for me. It was filled with fantasy, secrets, hidden messages, and a whole lot of mystery.

Classroom Extensions- The class can draw Narnia on a piece of paper and include their favorite characters in the drawing.
The class can get into groups and discuss their favorite part of the book and their least favorite part of the book and tell why. ( )
