I liked the book Cock-a-doodle-doo! Barnyard Hullabaloo by Giles Andreae. I liked this poetry book. I liked how this book had a beginning and ending poem. This steered you into the book and also wrapped it up nicely. The beginning poem led you into the book with the line, “so let’s climb aboard the tractor and explore this noisy farm.” And the last poem ended with, “it’s time to leave the animals and wave them all goodnight.” These poems made the book seem whole with a nice beginning and ending. Another reason I liked this book were the different animals you wouldn't expect. Most farm books contain the same animals over and over but this book had a wider variety. It talked about donkeys, turkeys, and bulls. This book also transitioned into the nighttime to give even more animals that could be found on the farm like the fox and owl. It talked about the fox and owl hunting on the farm at night. This is something you wouldn't see in most books about farms. The main idea for this book is entertainment but it does give a great introduction to the different types of animals seen on a farm. ( )

This is a beautifully illustrated rhyming book that introduces children to the farmyard animals and the sounds they make. To me, its only drawback is that it gives a few sounds that children are not used to hearing, like "wag, wag" for the dog instead of what we would normally use such as "ruff, ruff" or something similar. It is fun to read and even more fun to hear, so I'd highly recommend it.

This book makes me think of the old toys that when you pull the string, it makes the noise of the farm animal.

This would be a great book to practice rhyming sounds, colors,and animal sounds. It would be a great book to read during pleasure reading time for the younger students as well. At the end of the book, the teacher could review the sounds by having the students make the sounds themselves.

This book is a great read-aloud for young students learning about farm animals. It is rhyming riddles about each animal (rooster, chicken, cow, dog, cat, pigs, donkey, turkey, geese, sheep, goat, horse, bull, fox, owl). It is helpful to see pictures to learn more about each animal and what they do on a farm.
