Fun read, and the narrator was nice to listen to as well. Entertaining enough, but I don't think I'll continue the series. I did like that one of the characters who seemed unlikeable ended up being quite nice. Something of a subverted expectation.

While necessary to understand the roles of the game-like world, these sections can sometimes disrupt the flow of the narrative. Nonetheless, the overall world-building is solid, and once the reader becomes accustomed to the game mechanics, they add an intriguing layer to the story.

I just re-read the whole series after reading it on Royal Road for a long time.
Really great MC - a guy forced into another world - no idea, no powers, many hits to the head with a shovel. But he doesn't give up and he wont bow to anyone. About the best snarky guy out there with a wonderful team and an intersting world with rich and different magic and an ongoing fight, with hateable villains and loveable friendship.
