An indian boy, Juan Diego, lived in now called Mexico. Him and his wife lived in the village of Tolpetlac while being reigned over by the Aztec Empire. Juan Diego's wife passed away from illness and Diego was utterly distraught. He began to attend church every Saturday to pray at the mass in honor of the Mother of God. Then on December 9, 1531, Juan Diego heard a voice. This was not an ordinary voice. This voice was gentle, loving, and kind. This beautiful lady appeared to him and told him she was the Mother of God and asked him to deliver an important message to the Bishop. Juan Diego accomplished this task after three tries of delivering the message to the village. With the miraculous image of the Mother of God appearing on Diego's tilma, the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe was created. Juan Diego was extremely thankful for this encounter and lived the rest of his life taking care of the shrine built because of his meetings with the woman. The detail in the book was extremely accurate. This story could not have had any more detail. The author told the story of Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe in an orderly fashion. I can not fully understand why this was not my favorite book because I truly admire Our Lady of Guadalupe. While I was reading, I felt bored and that the book was never going to be over. It had a sense of repetitiveness and lack of emotion. Overall, the accuracy made up for the lack of feelings this story brought upon me. ( )

Juan Diego was the protagonist of this piece and because he ask a loyal man to the church and God, he gets stunned by a righteous woman known as the "The Lady of Guadalupe." This lady sent him on a series of tasks that made his reputation holy and he ended up healing his ill uncle because of her. At the end of story, he becomes the one to take care of the shrine of the "Lady of Guadalupe" Recommended for older kids, middle and high school as a true story. It was very interesting, I honestly just did not want to leave the book until I finished it. ( )

The Lady of Guadalupe introduces young readers to the well-known Catholic story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Beautifully illustrated by the author and available in Spanish, The Lady of Guadalupe is a wonderful account of the Blessed Mother’s appearance to a poor Indian farmer in Mexico. ( )
