AN EXCELLENT NOVEL THAT I COULD HARDLY PUT DOWN! Although the book was long, I enjoyed every minute as the author threw in many twists and turns. I loved military investigator Ash Carter with his skills to solve a mystery! I am afraid that he lost his way to find the killer or killers who had murdered over a dozen men gunned down in a gang style, one shot to the head and no clues left, and his attraction to his secretary got in the way. I normally would not read this genre, but I was so gland that I did, and I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK!

Excellent start for what is a quite good series. Ash is still in the military and sent to Cyprus in this prequel to his very good series. His good skills and persistence make him a very capable investigator and his feistiness makes him interesting as well. If you continue on, you will enjoy this series and its locales quite nicely. ( )

Every thing you come to expect from this Author, well written and researched, atmospheric clever and engaging from first to last page with superb characterisation. A younger Ash Carter begins a new series with this story set in Cyprus. An action thriller with plenty of terrific surprises and twists along the way. For those of you not familiar with our hero, think British Jack Reacher, but not quite so infallible prone to the odd mistake but gets there in the end.

WARNING : There are some minor references to racial slurs which some readers might object to and be totally unacceptable today, but sadly are in keeping with the time and place the story is set.
They should not in any way spoilt the enjoyment of a terrific read. ( )

Wow! I just spent my entire Saturday reading Cyprus Kiss as it was completely impossible to put down.

Set a few years after the end of WWII. Lieutenant Ash Carter is has a new assignment on the island of Cyprus and stumbles upon an execution style killing that drags him into a roller coaster ride of murder, abduction, gangs & corruption.

This is an extremely well written and perfectly paced novel which twists and turns throughout as Ash attempts to solve two murders and a missing persons case that all look like they may be connected.

Just when you think you’ve outsmarted Ash and solved part of the mystery the author rips the carpet from under your feet and leaves you reassessing the whole case.

Expect the unexpected and never discount even the most secondary characters. This will keep you hooked right until the end and even then it still has surprises in store.

I’m now about to spend Sunday devouring Ask Carter’s next assignment in ‘The Killing Crew’ ( )

This is the first book I have read by Murray Bailey and I was attracted to it because the story is set in Cyprus in 1948. My other half was in the army and we were stationed in Cyprus from 1959 to 1962. We lived in a Turkish village and the story brought everything back to me ! I do like the leading character Ash Carter and the story had lots of twists and turns in it with a surprising ending ! I will be reading more of Mr Bailey's books especially the ones set in places I know ! ( )

Johnson looked at the photograph for a long time, although he wasn't really looking, he was thinking.

"So where is Lieutenant Carter?" he eventually asked the investigating officer.

The younger man shook his head. "We can't find him sir. His office is closed and no one's seen him since Friday evening."

"Since the murder, you mean."

"Yes, sir. He's just disappeared."
