From the team behind See the Cat: Three Stories About a Dog comes a funny and handy guide that explains just how (and how not!) to say I'm sorry. Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone knew how to apologize? Luckily, this humorous guidebook is full of practical tips about when, why, and how to say you're sorry. From a porcupine who accidentally popped his friend's balloon to a snail who was running so fast he stepped on a sloth's toes, hilarious examples and sweet illustrations abound. For both listeners who are just learning and older readers who need a refresher, this book will come as a welcome reminder that even though apologizing can be hard, it doesn't have to be complicated.… (mehr)

This needs to be in both the adult and children's section of every library. ( )

A simple, straightforward narrative about apologies and how to make them (and how NOT to make them). Humorous in tone but sincere, this is ideal for sharing with older preschoolers and supplementing with conversation and practice. ( )

It is tricky to write a book that teaches a lesson without being didactic and moralizing, but How to Apologize pulls it off flawlessly, thanks to Wohnoutka's funny illustrations and LaRochelle's straightforward text.

"Everyone makes mistakes.
...
And when you've made a mistake that has hurt someone or something, the right thing to do is apologize.
...
Apologizing can be hard, especially if the other person is mad...or if it's someone you don't like.
But it's important to apologize anyway - even if that person owes you an apology too."

Wohnoutka's funny creatures model good apologies (YES) and bad ones (NO), and for those who just can't apologize face-to-face, there's always the option of writing a note. And it's never too late to apologize and try to fix a mistake, or avoid making that same mistake again.

Honestly, this should be required reading for all humans, of every age. ( )
