"In 1967 a group of Dublin socialites gather in an old lake house in the West of Ireland for a summer break. But, before they leave, they will have witnessed something that will silently haunt them all the days of their lives... Moira Fitzpatrick has lived in Paris for over fifty years. But it has not stopped her dreams being haunted by Ireland and a certain house there - a most beautiful house with a glittering lake and the unforgettable scent of wild orchids. In 2019 Desmond Griffith is dying. In his now deteriorating mind he becomes obsessed with knowing what happened to a woman he once knew. A woman called Rosemary. His daughter Julia feels that finding this woman might bring some much-needed peace to her father's tormented state. But as she tries to unravel who Rosemary is or was, her search leads her to an abandoned lake house in the West of Ireland which has been locked up for over fifty years. As each layer of the past is uncovered, Julia is drawn deeper and deeper into the story of what happened at this house over fifty years before. Are some secrets better left untold?"--Publisher.… (mehr)

An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my thoughts in any way.
I enjoyed reading The Lake House at Lenashee. I thought the story was interesting and the characters were realistic. I loved the description of the Irish countryside. I think the book could use a more thorough edit, as some of the character names were swapped at various points in the story which made for a confusing read. 3 ½ stars

This is my second read of a Sheila Forsey work to date. It is a riveting story from start to finish. This is a page turner. The author has managed to effortlessly blend historical fiction, with ghostly thriller to create a tale about a house with secrets. I enjoyed how she developed her characters and giving the house a personality as well. I would NOT miss reading this book! ( )

At first, the time travel was awkward, but once the book got going, it smoothed out. The descriptions are what make the book, giving us a nice picture of the place and people of the "wolds" of Ireland back in the 60s. The plot is interesting, but I kept wanting to edit my copy. I do wish the author had not abandoned the Rosemary character. It felt like she was dropped and never picked up again. The age-old theme of keeping secrets brings bad consequences rings true again. I did like the frank discussion of bipolar mental illness - the more mental health is mainstream, the better. I do wonder why the author didn't provide more insight on the disease as there was ample opportunity to do so. I suppose the main character of the book was the lake house itself. The cast of characters is all there, the weaving needs a little tightening up. If you are looking for a good summer story, this might fit the bill.
I was engaged enough to want to see how the story was resolved, which to me is a sign of a good story. Just edit it first. ( )

I enjoyed reading this story and, when i had to put the book down, I was thinking about it and how the story would continue. The reason for Julia's search for Rosemary is a little bit weird given how the characters' relationships are, and the reason for Rosemary's disappearance even more so. But it is still an enjoyable read.
Note: The proofreading was either not done yet in the copy i got, or the proofreader should be replaced... ( )

I received a free copy of this book as part of LibraryThing's Early Reviewers scheme.

I really loved this book. It does need proof reading again and at least one character was inconsistent, but I enjoyed learning about what had actually happened at The Lake House. The description of Ireland and especially the Lake House were well done and I could picture the place exactly. I liked the way it kept moving from the past to the present and back again. A lovely summer read. ( )
