I loved The World Played Chess and The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell. Then I found out that he has written three series of books! The Tracy Crosswhite series, The Charles Jenkins series and The David Sloane series! I have started reading the Tracy Crosswhite series and love it!!! This is his newest book in the series and I could hardly put it down!!! Again, I am reading out of order but it certainly didn't affect this book! Tracy Crosswhite is now married with a baby girl. A three times decorated detective, she is now working in the Cold Case division. She's asked to look into the disappearance of investigative reporter Lisa Childress by her daughter, Anita. After twenty-five years, she just wants the truth no matter where it leads. Excellent read!!! Going now to put some holds on more of these books! What She Found by Robert Dugoni is the ninth instalment in the Detective Tracy Crosswhite series but this mystery reads very well as a stand-alone. Having read several Dugoni books previously, I found that the usual well-written novel and diverse and interesting characters are as expected. This is a satisfying read and does not seem repetitive. Detective Crosswhite has been assigned to cold cases, mainly because of new scientific discoveries available now that were not developed when the crimes were committed. Her usual attention to detail and respect for the victims’ families lead her to a twenty-five year-old case: an investigative journalist disappeared and was never seen again. A supposed suicide occurred in the vicinity of the location where the journalist was last seen. This will disturb a hornet’s nest of huge proportions and will involve many important people who are adamant about not being investigated. This is a police procedural that takes the reader through the steps and procedures in a detailed accounting of a cold case. Robert Dugoni does not disappoint. Highly recommended. Thank you to Thomas & Mercer, NetGalley and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. The Tracy Crosswhite series has evolved into one of my favorites. I feel each book has been better than the last, and What She Dound is no exception. In this installment, Tracy works the cold case of Lisa Childers at request of the victim’s daughter. Lisa disappeared 24 years before the book starts. What follows is a well done police procedural, which slowly builds to a satisfying conclusion. The book is tightly plotted, and it’s such a pleasure to see how the main characters have grown from book to book. Highly recommended series, though there’s not much need to read the prior eight books to be able to enjoy What She Found. My thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley for providing an ARC of the book. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

"Detective Tracy Crosswhite has agreed to look into the disappearance of investigative reporter Lisa Childress. Solving the cold case is an obsession for Lisa's daughter, Anita. So is clearing the name of her father, a prime suspect who became a pariah. After twenty-five years, all Anita wants is the truth -- no matter where it leads. For Tracy, that means reopening the potentially explosive investigations Lisa was following on the dark night she vanished: an exposé of likely mayoral graft; the shocking rumors of a reserved city councilman's criminal sex life; a drug task force scandal compromising the Seattle PD; and an elusive serial killer who disappeared just as mysteriously as Lisa. As all the pieces come together, it becomes clear that Tracy is in the midst of a case that will push her loyalties and her resilience to the limit. What she uncovers will come with a greater price than anyone feared."-- Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
