Persephone was ready to start a new life when she left the mortal realm for Olympus. However, she quickly discovered the dark side of her glamorous new home--from the relatively minor gossip threatening her reputation to a realm-shattering violation of her safety by the conceited Apollo--and she's struggling to find her footing in the fast-moving realm of the gods. Hades is also off-balance, fighting against his burgeoning feelings for the young goddess of spring while maintaining his lonely rule of the Underworld. As the pair are drawn ever closer, they must untangle the twisted webs of their past and present to build toward a new future.… (mehr)

Two gods quickly meet awkwardly then go their separate ways expecting nothing to come out of it, then stuff just keeps on coming up from that meet that just makes their lives annoying. Lore Olympus: Volume Two by Rachel Smythe continues following Persephone and Hades after their initial meeting as they try to either get used to being in Olympus or back to one’s usual routine, but others keep on butting in making immortality annoying.

Covering episodes #26-49 of the webcomic sees the main protagonists attempting to get on with their lives and duties, however things aren’t easy as Olympian gossip makes both of their lives more interesting though more for Persephone than Hades. Smythe while giving depth to her central story arc, world builds a modern age Olympus, and wrapping in various Greek gods and goddesses deciding how to react to the “facts” of the relationship. The art is excellent, and the story is engaging enough to keep me invested and interested in what twists and turns Smythe is planning towards the eventual outcome—just because it is a well-known myth doesn’t mean there are not multiple ways of telling it.

Lore Olympus: Volume Two sees Rachel Smythe build upon the foundation she laid down in the first volume and kept me interested in how she’s going to craft her 21st century version. ( )

I thought this was fun, next volune in this series. I also am wowed by the pretty graphics and drawing in this vol. I also enjoyed not only the dynamics between the characters but also the harder topics i book 2 included abuse and rape, the topics were adressed in book 2 and liked how the fallout was there. I also liked seeing the new characters and new god dynamics!! It was very nice edion!! ( )

Rachel Smythe’s Lore Olympus: Volume Two continues her retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone, collecting episodes 26-49 of the comic that originally appeared on WEBTOON. Picking up after the previous volume, the Lord of the Underworld and the Goddess of Spring continue to find themselves flustered around each other. Even as they try to figure out their feelings, those nearest them weave webs within webs. Apollo continues to lust after Persephone, who is not interested in him and not comfortable after he took advantage of her. Hera realizes that Hades and Persephone might be interested in each other and tries to push them together. And the rumors about Persephone staying the night at Hades’ place spread gossip like Greek fire. Minthe feels jealous of Persephone even though she never wanted to commit to Hades, leading her to take her own actions to scuttle the developing relationship.

Smythe continues to brilliantly retell the Greek myths with her own flair, her stunning artwork and use of color making each page come alive. Having established that the Olympians and other Greek gods live in a magical world with modern amenities, Smythe explores new characters and how they fit into her portrayal. As in Volume One, Smythe includes bonus content. Specifically, a short episode that ties into episode 47 and offers more perspective on Hestia. This hardcover edition is a great way for fans to add the WEBTOON to their physical bookshelf. ( )

graphic novel/persephone and hades love story (book 2 of series, translated into Spanish)
I like the illustrations but my Spanish is nowhere near good enough to read the Spanish translation.
