"The Diamond: Death walks alongside me, but the reaper is no match for me. I'm trapped in a world full of monsters dressed as men, and those who aren't as they seem. They won't keep me forever. I no longer recognize the person I've become, And I'm fighting to find my way back to the beast who hunts me in the night. They call me a diamond, But they've only created an angel of death. The Hunter: I was born a predator, With ruthlessness ingrained in my bones. When what's mine is stolen from me in the night, like a diamond hidden within a fortress, I find that I can no longer contain the beast. Blood will paint the ground as I tear apart this world to find her. And bring her back to where she belongs. No one will escape my wrath, especially not those who have betrayed me"--Amazon.com.… (mehr)

Don't expect anything similar to the first book. This one leans heavily into the sex trafficking angle, which is fine, but the depravity was way beyond anything I expected. ( )

Wow. Yep just wow. While this book is much darker, there is beauty to it. The horrors that Addy endured, the pain Zade goes through. All the darkness they both deal with as they are reunited.

I loved how Addy not just survives her personal hell, but with the help of Zade and Sibby, becomes even stronger. How she and Zade becomes flip side of the same twisted coin. Yin & Yang. The dark God and his dark Queen. ( )

"Hunting Adeline," the second book in the Cat and Mouse Duet, has earned a solid 4 out of 5 stars from me. This installment takes a much darker turn compared to the first, and I must say, it's a gripping experience.

I've never been more drawn into a story. Yes, it gets graphic, but it serves a purpose by making you realize that the intense themes depicted actually happen in our world and shouldn't be taken lightly. The novel's willingness to confront these harsh realities adds a layer of depth that I appreciate.

One of the standout elements is the character Zade and the profound love and determination portrayed in the story. Despite the dark undertones, Zade's unwavering commitment to Adeline is truly admirable. The evolution of their relationship, starting from a challenging beginning, brings out the beauty of someone wanting to love you so deeply and take your pain as their own.

Zade's character adds emotional depth to the narrative, making it a poignant and beautiful reading experience. Despite the intensity of the darkness portrayed, the novel skillfully addresses real-world issues within the realm of fiction. ( )
