Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. The story follows the life of Viv, a former sword-slinging Orc who has decided to trade in the battlefield for a retirement as a coffeeshop owner, and all of the new characters she meets along the way. This book is the definition of cozy and heart warming. It was a delightful read to escape to while still providing meaningful conflict and satisfying resolutions. Highly recommend for any fantasy lover who wants a quick and light-hearted read. 5/5 stars. ( )
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It wasn't a "oh my god I need to get back to the story" book for me, but I really enjoyed it! I think I was expecting a little more action in it than there was. Not necessarily violence, but a lot of it moved a little slowly because there just wasn't a lot of action going on. That's why I gave it only 4 stars. It just wasn't engaging enough for me to give it 5 stars. And yet, I genuinely like the book and will probably read it again some day! ( )

I really wish there were half stars, argh! This is a 7/10 for me. The pace dragged a little at times, but the story and characters were endearing and I was charmed. ( )
I never really thought about "cozy fantasy" as a subgenre, but that's what this is. It's kind, it's sweet (but not cloying), it's funny, and it is as comfortable a read as can be. I'll be reading the sequel immediately. ( )
Legends & Lattes, by Travis Baldree, is a sweet and gentle story about what happens after your orc heroine kills all the bad guys and gets all the treasure. It’s the D&D / coffeeshop AU mashup that I didn’t know I wanted to read about.
