In "Fight Like Jesus" Jason Porterfield goes over the familar story of Holy Week, day by day, in a totally new way. Contrasting what the world expected with Jesus behavior, he shows how deep pacifism coming from love is both the goal and the method of gaining peace. He ends with lessons that lead us to trying to live and fight like Jesus.

Fight Like Jesus is a short book that looks at peacemaking through the Gospel accounts of Holy Week. The author uses each day of Holy Week to reflect on a different theme of peacemaking. This book provided interesting insights into the Gospel accounts of Holy Week and how it should influence one’s thoughts about peacemaking. This book would be a great read for lent either individually or with a group. The chapters are short enough where a person can read one chapter a week for a study. The book includes discussion questions for each chapter and suggestions for a Lenten reading plan. A bibliography would have been good in case somebody wanted to go deeper. ( )

While I won't say that I agree with the base premises of the book, it's one of the most enjoyable things about reading theological book - you will be challenged and made to think about your own views. It's not mine, but it is a very well articulated point of view, for which I commend the author. It seems like it's written with a particular target group in mind, and I very much feel it will meet those needs.

Jason Porterfield 's Fight Like Jesus is a well-written book with lessons about Jesus, Holy Week, and the importance of peace. I voluntarily read this complimentary book that I will return to often on my spiritual journey. I look forward to Jason Porterfield's next book. ( )
