I was back and forth a bit for this one. Overall, I think the story was pretty cute and, for the most part, was able to capture and keep my interest. While the concept of a vacation romance is not at all new, I loved that the vacation was in Iceland. Many of these lighter romances are geared toward beach reads, so it was great to see a book that you can see yourself curling up under a large flannel blanket on a snowy day to read, but with similar feels to beach reads. I also loved that the vacation turned into a "save the town" story, which added in some action and adventure without adding too much drama to the romance.

The chemistry between Ava and Brooks was well done (except for my comment below). I loved how their relationship had some enemy-to-lovers feels at the beginning as well as including the grump sunshine dynamic (both tropes I LOVE). It was also refreshing how accepting and supportive they were of each other's careers and understanding the need to sometimes work now and play later... and in between!

I have two major complaints and they were the reason that I did not rate this higher. The first issue was that this book bordered on being an insta-love story, which I personally am not a fan of. I understand the circumstances the book made it a bit necessary, but still... anyways, it toed the line but was not so ridiculous (like some other books) that it was not at least somewhat believable.

The second, and more significant issue is that the ending felt pretty rushed. I would have loved it if the author had maybe taken less time in the middle of the book (which dragged a bit) and more time expanding on the end events because it all felt very wham bam thank you mam and we are done!

Regardless of the faults, overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend if you are looking for a light read, especially on a cold winter day...or if you are looking for a story that will transport you away from the heat you are currently in!

What do you get when you bring together one grumpy pilot and an always working over achiever? This sweet holiday romance!

Ava is on a short trip to Iceland between changing positions at work. She has the perfect holiday all planned out, it’s in her binder, ready to go – but things definitely don’t go to plan. For starters, she is met by Brooks, the surly pilot picking her up and they get off on the wrong foot from there. But much like the polar icecaps, their relationship begins to thaw rapidly until they’re in a very delicious will they/won’t they situation. I enjoyed the easy banter between Ava and Brooks.

A lot is packed into this story, the budding romance between Ava and Brooks, both characters are hesitant to start something, but as they spend more time together, *bam* feelings! What I did like about this was their willingness to give the other a go, despite the many hurdles their relationship would bring, mutual attraction and respect is sexy. There is also the environmental mystery that is affecting the town where Brooks lives, which is damaging and killing marine life. Add to this, Ava comes up with an idea to help the town with their problem and all the while, Ava is still doing her job while she is on holiday.

Overall, this was a sweet story, I think for some it may be a tad slow in places. While there is the mystery of what is happening to the town, the story doesn’t veer into ‘romantic suspense’ territory at all and the mystery is really only addressed in the final couple of chapters. This is book two in the series, but I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything by not reading the first one. I’ll definitely check out other books this author has written.

One unexpected adventure is book two in Her Journey Series. Ava gets the promotion of CEO but before she starts she decides to take a holiday. She then meets her tour guide: Brooks. Things between them don't hit it off well and like any good "enemies to lovers" trope avoiding each other doesn't work out. I really enjoyed this book, The way it was written kept your attention throughout and the back and forth with the characters was well played out. ( )

Ava is excited about her overdo vacation in Iceland. Brooks is helping his Dad with the business and is saddled with taking Ava around. Brooks and Ava do not care for each other, but there is a mystery that Ava thinks she can help with. A nice way to spend an afternoon. ( )

This is my second book that was written by this author. The first was “One Stormy Night” and I must admit that this was more layered and in-depth. Ava’s escaping from her very hectic job for a short adventure to Iceland. She’s met by Brooks, the son of the man who wrote the information that enticed Ava to travel there. Upon meeting Ava, Brooks begins an antagonistic relationship with Ava, as he’s burdened to be her tour guide because his dad has been incapacitated. Brooks has other concerns on his mind, much more important than toting another tourist around. Brooks was raised by separated parents, one in Atlanta and the other in Iceland. So he’s more Americanized than to be expected, having only spent summers with his father in Iceland. The fishing village comes under environmental attack and Brooks and Ava join forces to investigate. Their relationship develops slowly and set-backs happen. I like that it shows the ups and downs of developing a relationship and trust. ( )
