Before starting it I read book 1 and enjoyed it. Book 2 was not available and had a very long wait list so I skipped it. I liked the blurb of this book and wanted to give it a go! Comments on this book mentioned it was better than books one and two so I was very happy. This has the twin witches again. With the death of their mom, they are gate guardians, now. (I must have missed something big in book 2.) In book one, the twins had very different natures. One was very nice, the other not so much. Now both are Mean Girls. I really lost what attraction for the nice one really fast. There was lots of action, a confusing plot, unlikable characters, and a rushed ending. I think I liked book one so much better. A solid wrap-up to the trilogy and much better than the second book. This trilogy is definitely geared toward junior high/high school so some of the "issues" and drama in the book can be a little eye-rolly as an adult, but it absolutely makes sense for that audience. There was a lot that needed to be wrapped up and that happened at end - I found myself making sure this was, in fact, a trilogy at about 80% because it seemed like there was just too much to happen in the last few pages, but it did get wrapped up.
