Retelling of the classic folktale. Findley's version highlights the hare's teasing of the tortoise, which makes this retelling relatable for young readers. This version is great for beginning readers and for older students who may be interested in creating their own versions of folktales! Extremely accessible. ( )

Summary-
The tortoise and the Hare was about an overconfident bunny and a sad, slow turtle. The bunny kept making fun of the turtle for how slow he was. The turtle then got brave and raced the fast hare. The overconfident bunny was winning by a lot and decided to take a nap. The turtle then passed him while the bunny was sleeping. The turtle won the race.

Personal reaction- I enjoyed reading this little book. It wasn't a dull, boring book. It had lots of colors. The wording of the book was fun and the illustrations were adorable.

Classroom extensions-
1. Have a race with students
2. Get a pet turtle because they are awesome.

Summary
This story is about a hare who is always making fun of a tortoise because he is so slow. One day, the tortoise challenges the hare to a race. The hare thinks that the race is going to be easy. During the race, the hare is ahead of the tortoise so he decides to take a nap by a tree. The hare wakes up a little while later only to realize that the tortoise is ahead of him and almost to the finish line. The tortoise crosses the finish line and wins the race.

Personal Reaction
This book made me realize that it is better to do things slow and right, rather than fast and messing things up.

Classroom Extension Ideas
1. In my classroom, I could use this story to teach my students to do things slow and right, rather than fast and sloppy.
2. I could use this story to do a classroom play.

Summary
The hare and the turtle wanted to race. The hare was certain he would beat the turtle so when the race started he hopped along. When he thought he was ahead enough he decided he would take a nap. While the hare was sleeping the turtle passed him and won the race.

Personal Reaction
This book would be a good book for beginner readers. It was an easy read and it had a glossary at the back of the book to explain the words to the reader.

Classroom Extension Ideas
1. Let the students pick a page out of the book and have them recreate the scene by acting it out.
2. Talk to the students about how the hare was mean to the turtle at first and how it is not nice to treat our friends like that.
3. Look up the words at the back of the book and have the students explain what the words mean.
