Ausgerechnet die letzte Geschichte hat mir nicht so gut gefallen. Einige der Geschichten fand ich aber wirklich toll und so gibt es insgesamt 4 Sterne.

A collection of short stories about the world of the Scythe trilogy. There is a lot of fan service here, some nice backstories and post canon and cute ideas. I'm not a big reader of short stories, I find I tend to finish one and then wander off, so it did take me a while to potter through this. But like its big brother, it has some interesting ideas on death and art and meaning. ( )

A collection of short stories from the Arc of a Scythe trilogy, this has its highs and lows. I enjoyed some of the stories very much, especially those that were a bit closer to the main story, while a few of them were a bit too much out there. In particular, the stories of scythes being psychopaths didn't really do much for me, there was already more than enough of that in the main arc, plus, from the way scythes are presented in Book 1, I would have preferred to learn a bit more about *honorable* scythes.

Regardless it's a nice addition to the trilogy, and makes this whole universe deeper and more alive. ( )

I absolutely hate this book.... For only having 13 stories!

OMG, I really didn't want this book to end. I enjoyed each and every story so so much!

I loved reading the original trilogy and reading this book felt like meeting an old friend after too long. I often find myself think of this series universe and find it fascinating.

I really hope this is not the last we see of the Arc of a Scythe. ( )

Firstly, a BIG thank you to Children's Book Council (CBC) for a copy of this book. When I heard it we would have it as a selection for our readers in the 2022 Favorites voting I was SO STINKING EXCITED. Neal Shusterman is one of my favorite authors for the narratives and worlds that he creates.

Maybe, though, I have been out of the Scythedom world too long.....

The third, in my opinion, highly disappointing book came out in 2019. That's when I read it. There is so much I did NOT remember about characters, plot points, etc. So when it came to Gleanings and this collection of stories, I smiled when I actively remembered a character (like Ben Terranova or Scythe Curie) and I sat flummoxed when I did not. If a storyline or character voice felt completely new, I did wonder what the point was. Because isn't the Scythedom universe completed?

That being said, I did love the collaboration nature of this book. It's always nice to give voices to other authors. (Jarrod and Sofia's story was a favorite). But I think I will stick with Scythe when it comes to my favorite of this series. ( )
