Many really good tips I could have used. We are sharing it with our adult kids.Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. This is a bit of a mixed bag, but I don’t honestly know how it could be anything else. The whole point is to teach you about what you don’t know that you don’t know. But for a broad audience. I knew a good chunk of what was in here (which was comforting) and there were a few things I definitely didn’t know (about buying a home mostly). Somethings felt dated already despite this book coming out during the pandemic. All and all I can’t say with confidence how helpful this book will be to a given reader. Young people living on their own for the first time are probably the best audience. I’m not that, you just don’t know what you don’t and they’re just giving it their best guess. Although filled with some helpful information- there are many parts that would have benefited from having illustrations (such as balancing a checkbook) I at the very least, to make it more interesting. Unfortunately it felt as if the author was almost talking down to the reader. As much as I wanted this book to be amazing, I ended up being less than impressed. Adulting 101: How Not to Move Back Home with Your Parents: 135 Life Skills - Money Matters, Cooking, Job Interviewing, Car Basics, Dating, and Everything Else You Should Know Before You're 25 is a practical how to guide about basic things the author thinks every young adult should know. Topics covered inlcude finances, workplace etiquette, and relationships among other things.
I'd give this book two out of five stars. There are a few helpful suggestions such as writing thank you notes after a job interview and when and how to perform basic car maintenance. Other hints however seem less helpful. The suggestion is made that sleeping with a bunch of random strangers is an emotionally healthy way to deal with a break up, as long as the sheets are changed often.
Overall, all of the helpful information could easily be found somewhere else. I work with high school students and was hoping this would be a helpful resource for them, but after reading it, I'll keep looking for something else.Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. OMG this book is getting so much love for our patrons! First they giggle then they start reading.keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
