Our need for meaning and substance is ubiquitous in the human condition, but how do we reliably find meaning? How are we susceptible to doing it the wrong way? What does this look like, what is produced, and why we should avoid it? Using archetypal themes found in Greek mythology, readers are challenged to contemplate how Medusa's role as the devouring mother is relevant today. Whether in relationships between parent and child, significant others, or even government and citizens, how we care and fail to care authentically shapes our world. Thought-provoking and probing, this book encourages readers to examine, challenge, and reroute in the pursuit of "authentic love." Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

A lot of the takeaways that I think I was supposed to take from the book also seemed fairly trite, although I found parts of the author's reasoning interesting. You'd probably enjoy those parts more if you were new to and curious about human psychology, think books like Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert.
All in all, an interesting insight into the author's interests and processing but there are tons of great books out there for Greek mythology or the philosophy of human nature or even personal memoirs. I'd recommend starting there and coming back to this book if you'd like some breadth in your reading.
