The portal is open. The war has begun. The third installment of a coming-of-age fantasy series perfect for teen and young adult fans of Terry Brooks (Shannara), Cinda Willams Chima (The Demon King), Christopher Paolini (Eragon), and other works of epic sword and sorcery.Going home makes everything harder. After being hunted by humans and transformed into a demonic creature called a drow, Drynn believes his family will be safer in the forest. Problem is, more drow are waiting for them there. When his brother is taken by the same drow who burned his home, Drynn is told that he needs the ashes of the phoenix to defeat them. It only would require him to return to the human kingdom and all the dangers he thought he left behind. But when he discovers that his brother has been forced to join the ranks of the drow, it seems they may have already run out of time. The Queen's Heir is the direct sequel to The Queen's Opal (2017), and The Queen's Gift (2018), a new series set the same world as The Stone Bearers (2016).Clean Read. Tayvin and Drynn attempt to return home only to find that things are different than they remembered. This time, Tayvin is captured by the Drow, and Drynn and Kol must find a way to fix things as the Drow attempt to turn Tayvin against everything he loves.
I loved Kol so much in this book. Kid is funny! There were also more dragonets, half-elves, and other fantastic characters. For a fantasy world, the characters feel so real. I'm glad the series isn't over and look forward to their continuing adventures.
I received a free copy of the audiobook from the author and have reviewed it willingly. ( )
