Write On Door County is a famous writing center that offers residencies and provides a center for Door County poets and writers. Both the Bjorklunden Center operated by Lawrence University, the Clearing Folk School, and the Peninsula School of Arts also offer residency programs and classes for a wide range of the creative arts. The poetry community in Door County is one of the most active in the State of Wisconsin, and the Poet Laureates are extraordinary writers, many of whom have either a regional and/or national reputation. They have won a variety of writing awards for both their poetry and other creative efforts and are part of the dynamic creative milieu. The poetry they write ranges widely, as might be expected, ranging from the sublime to the ironic to humor to the beautiful.
