Here he outlines how to do it. There's lots to learn. ( ) Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. This book arrived extremely late, but I was glad to read it when I finally received it. Learning to speak persuasively is an important skill in today's world, and this book offers concrete suggestions for improving one's ability to not only argue well, but win over audiences of any size. I particularly liked the examples Hasan offers from recent political figures (regardless of party affiliation), illustrating their effectiveness at audience persuasion. A great book for anyone interested in becoming more adept at the art of getting others to see your point of view.Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. Only once before have I ever put an LTER book back on my shelf without finishing it. This is my second LTER failure. When I first requested this book, last September, I was really looking forward to digging in to the topic of debating, particularly as I was about to dive into my first experience with negotiating a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).Now that the book has come, several months late, I no longer have the stomach for reading a how-to. (While the CBA debate rages on, I understand that reading this book will play no role in the outcome of the process.) I kept at it for a couple chapters, but clearly was not paying attention as I mentally registered each word without putting them together in my mind, or truly giving any ounce of understanding to each sentence. I want to read something more poignant (and I do appreciate the irony, given that the author goes to pains to discuss connecting with his audience, and yet he lost me to other authors). Life is simply too short to put so much effort into completing a book that my heart is not into. Diese Rezension wurde für LibraryThing Early Reviewers geschrieben. UPDATE: the book arrived and it was GREAT! Such a wonderful book that will help me engage others in a more productive way!!!This book has not arrived yet for the Library Thing Early Reviewer but I cannot wait for it. What I am excited about is learning how to better communicate with others. I love these types of self help books because they are books that can not only help me, but help others too! I have read a lot of great things about it!!! I cannot wait for it to arrive. I will update review once it arrives! Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

"MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan isn't one to avoid arguments. He relishes them, as the lifeblood of democracy and the only surefire way to establish the truth. Arguments help us solve problems, uncover new ideas we might not have considered, and nudge our disagreements toward mutual understanding. A good argument, made in good faith, has intrinsic value-and can also simply be fun. Arguments are everywhere-and especially given the fierce debates we're all embroiled in today, everyone wants to win. In this riveting guide to the art of argument and rhetoric, Hasan shows you how. As a journalist, anchor, and interviewer who has clashed with politicians, generals, spy chiefs, and celebrities from across the world, Hasan reveals his tricks of the trade for the first time. Win Every Argument shows how anyone can communicate with confidence, rise above the tit for tats on social media, and triumph in a successful and productive debate in the real world. Whether you are making a presentation at work or debating current political issues with a friend, Mehdi Hasan will teach you how to sharpen your speaking skills to make the winning case"-- Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
