Power and Prediction is a combined effort of authors Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans, and Avi Goldfarb. The authors dive into what AI future holds in every aspect of our lives. How will AI change where you work, what you drive, what you eat, your social life, and your medical? They cover many aspects so you can be prepared. I found they did not sugarcoat their predictions. You understand the possibilities of mistakes and miscalculations of the programmers. I found Power and Prediction informative yet practical. The authors wrote at a level everyone could understand, but experts in this area may find it too simple for their liking. This book is a spin-off of their previous bestseller, Prediction Machines. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to prepare themselves for what the future could hold in AI and what direction their business could be taking. This book, and other books written by these authors on AI and its economic impact, are essential if you’re interested in the field. Even in the preface, they prove they are the experts as they list off other big businesses and organizations that consider them the authority on the topic. The amount of study, effort, and thought that has gone into compiling this catapults it above most books about AI and business integration of AI. In examples they provide, such as in the opening chapter, The Between Times, they easily draw parallels to the content. This is great, so even the casual person interested in the topic can read with little effort. The writing doesn’t distance itself from the layperson as you might expect. The most significant benefit is for small and large entrepreneurs and how AI can ultimately benefit them. This is a book to check out if you’re even remotely interested in AI and how it’s shaping our interactions in business. This has been a fascinating book about artificial intelligence (AI) and how it has impacted our lives and how it could change things in the years to come. Three economists, Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans, and Avi Goldfarb, wrote this book to help others learn just how much of a game changer AI will be. The authors compare AI’s impact and potential changes to electricity, calling it “the new electricity.” AI has the potential to transform every industry and create huge economic benefits. The way things are done changes with AI which in turn shifts power. This book is full of examples and practical advice to help companies and people learn how to incorporate AI into their lives and work. The authors explain the relationship between AI and power and prediction. A very informative book! Being an Information Analyst, this book couldn't have been more relevant. Artificial intelligence has become an integral component of my day job, and the information served in "Power and Prediction" further illustrates how AI is here to stay. The authors let it be known that the goal of this book is to stimulate motivation into developing AI system solution. One point I found particularly intriguing was the fact that despite the recent influx of AI employment, be it within Silicon Valley or beyond, AI is still in its infant stages. Personally, the juxtaposition between the speed of talk regarding AI and the actual maturity of the technology triggers something to ponder. As an employee, I've got to wonder how this shift will affect me. For business readers, I reckon this book will not only be valuable but it will also be entertaining. It starts off with background information on the evolution of energy - think steam and electricity. The content structure then progresses into core topics - the use of AI in prediction to empower decision-making. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
"Banking and finance, pharmaceuticals, automotive, medical technology, retail. Artificial intelligence (AI) has made its way into many industries around the world. But the truth is, it has just begun its odyssey toward cheaper, better, and faster predictions to drive strategic business decisions-powering and accelerating business. When prediction is taken to the max, industries transform. The disruption that comes with such transformation is yet to be felt-but it is coming. How do businesses prepare? In their bestselling first book, Prediction Machines, eminent economists Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans, and Avi Goldfarb explained the simple yet game-changing economics of AI. Now, in Power and Prediction, they go further to reveal AI as a prediction technology directly impacting decision-making and to teach businesses how to identify disruptive opportunities and threats resulting from AI. Their exhaustive study of new developments in artificial intelligence and the past history of how technologies have disrupted industries highlights the striking phase we are now in: after witnessing the power of this new technology and before its widespread adoption-what they call "the Between Times." While there continue to be important opportunities for businesses, there are also threats of disruption. As prediction machines improve, old ways of doing things will be upended. Also, the process by which AI filters into the many systems involved in application is very uneven. That process will have winners and losers. How can businesses leverage, or protect, their positions? Filled with illuminating insights, rich examples, and practical advice, Power and Prediction is the must-read guide for any business leader or policy maker on how to make the coming AI disruptions work for you rather than against you"-- Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
