This is the first book I've read written by Jerusha Agen and it won 't be the last! This is the most exciting book I've read this year! Action packed throughout the entire book. I instantly loved the characters and found myself cheering them on as they overcame obstacles as they pursued justice. A little romance makes this book complete!

Covert Danger by Jerusha Agen is a Christian Romantic Suspense novel. It will keep you reading. As the second book in the Guardians Unleashed series, we get to continue to learn about the various members of the Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency. This book centers around Amalia and her two K-9 partners—Raksa, a German shepherd protection and search and rescue K-9, and Gaston, a Newfoundland water rescue dog. Trying to run from her past and from God himself, this book really drew me into the story and the lives of the characters.

With witnesses needing protection, Amalia and the rest of the team help support the FBI in protecting them. But dangerous twists and turns will keep you reading. An orphan shows up and adds extra dimensions to the story.

Michael Barrett, the witness needing protection, actually knew Amalia in her past before she assumed a new identity (or two) and started running to avoid destruction from the past. I loved seeing his genuine desire to help, his feelings for Amalia, and his love of God. He definitely adds an impressive dimension to this story.

So, if you enjoy works of Christian romantic suspense, check out this book for yourself. I also recommend the rest of the books about the Phonenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency.

The easier way to describe this story is by saying action packed, dangerous, secrets and strong characters. I love stories with K9’s and the ones in this book are at the top of their pack. They are fierce, strong, protective and alert to everything around them. To me they are the perfect thing to have for protection.

Following Amalia on her new assignment doesn’t give readers much time to breathe as she is deep in suspense. There is a little background on her, but I want readers to discover this on their own. If I’m ever in trouble or need someone to protect me, I would call Amalia and her K9 immediately. Working with the Phoenix K9 Security and Detection Team place her in direct contact with criminals who are not just dangerous but ruthless. Her new task is to guard a witness who happens to be someone she knows. Will he keep her identity a secret?

Michael is stunned when he is face to face with Amalia. Where has she been all these years and why is her name different? All these questions run through his mind as he puts his life in her hands. Now he needs to put his trust in God as he is put into places where danger finds him. I loved how the author slowly lets Amalia and Michael share their past and the hurt, pain and fear facing them.

Hearing Amalia say, “I know the whole idea of God is one of the biggest lies invented,” broke Michael’s heart. Why is she so bitter and has kept herself hidden from her parents all these years? She has turned cold inside which makes Michael think she is guarding a very deep secret. Michael has real concern that Amalia may be in danger herself.

Get ready for suspense , danger and faith in this K9 adventure. Be sure to pay attention to every detail and follow our characters as they try to stay one step ahead of the people who are causing chaos.

Covert Danger, by Jerusha Agen, is book 2 in the Guardians Unleashed series. This story can be read as a stand alone story, but it does mention events from the previous books, so it is best to read them in order. In this story we get to know Amalia, who has gone on the run and changed her name as a result of the CIA believing she is a traitor. She left her parents home and only contacts them through email. Now she is guarding a person of interest, who happens to be her childhood best friend who has been searching for her for years. While she tries hard to keep their relationship all business, she starts to have feelings of friendship return.

This is such a good story. It is fast paced and filled with action, suspense, mystery and touches of romance. The story is well written and easy to imagine the happening. The story has many twists and turns that kept me wondering what would happen next. The women that work with Phoenix K-9 Security are brilliant, well trained, and caring women, all with their own secret pasts. Their dogs are amazing.

Author Jerusha Agen has created a suspense lover's dream! Covert Danger has intriguing characters, non-stop action, and questions needing to be answered, but I especially loved that there's a childhood friendship waiting to be revived! Amalia is one strong woman but she's hiding a secret that she's determined to keep hidden. What will happen when her mission to protect turns into a mission to survive? Will her work with the K-9 unit reveal her complicated past? Will her true identity be exposed?

Covert Danger is a thrilling and riveting adventure that kept me turning the pages but it's also a wonderful study of human nature. Agen allows the tender side of Amalia/Sophia to shine through her tough persona and I loved the special connection that she finds with Michael and Grace. Their relationship, and the powerful faith message that's been woven into the plot, make this a story to savor! I recommend Covert Danger to all who enjoy second-chance stories and romantic Christian suspense!
