This picture book has beautiful and colorful illustrations that make the story come alive. It is a great book to introduce animals and vivid vocabulary words. There are also rhyming words that younger kids may enjoy reading or listening to. After reading this book, it really has me thinking about what makes me magical. This is a great book to have a discussion about what makes us unique and why. ( )

Cute, playful book for kids with the major theme being that magic is imagination and we all have it inside us. I like the use of bigger words than most people use with young children, I find that it stimulates their curiosity and opens the opportunity to talk about the words with children. I felt like there was no connection from the book to the conclusion, though. The bulk of the book is introducing the "teachers" in the forest and then all of a sudden the main character has an epiphany. I felt the book was cute and good message, but it didn't really have a story that a young child can follow, no flow from one scene to another, and the ending definitely fell flat.

This book is cute but missed the mark for me and my little one. It could have done with a few more pages to help explain what's happening and help with the flow of the story because the jumps from scene to scene are pretty sudden. Additionally, some of the word choices in the rhymes are a little advanced for smaller kids. The illustrations of the cat character are very cute. ( )

A whimsical rhyming children's book that includes some magical elements similar to that of Harry Potter, but with animals as the characters and designed for toddlers/Pre-K readers. There's a little story flow confusion (for adults), but something my daughter didn't notice. She enjoyed it. It's a cute idea and the illustrations match the overall theme of finding your own magic.

It was a cute story, but I feel the language is too sophisticated for a pre-reader and early readers may not want to read it because it's primarily a picture book. There are too many words and concepts that would need to be explained for kids to have any grasp of them such as 'levitation' - there is no way for the reader to know what that means from the book alone. It's certainly a cute idea bringing magic into the lives of children, however.
