This is the second of Marquand's novels I've read; while it does not rise to anything approaching the level of The Late George Apley, I still enjoyed it well enough. There is a bit too much repetition and simultaneously too much and not enough world-building, somehow, and most of the characters are fairly annoying. But there is some good humor and some amusing New England set pieces in here, too. ( ) Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

- A rediscovery. WICKFORD POINT follows "The Late George Apley as the second of Marquand's acclaimed and bestselling novels that Back Bay has restored to print.- John P. Marquand is regarded as one of the 20th century's masters of sophisticated domestic fiction, occupying a midpoint on the spectrum between Edith Wharton and John Cheever.
