He has received numerous awards and honors, including research fellowships at Yale University and Harvard University, a Fulbright Fellowship and a Rockefeller Fellowship and many Church Growth awards. Dr. Stewart has written several plays and musical compositions. He is currently pastor of Hope United Methodist Church in Southfield, Michigan.
