Although I didn't like the artwork in this as much as I have in some of her past ones (a combination of the characters looking too much like the ones of her other series and the dark denseness of the panels) the story was very good, as always.

In this first volume we meet Asagi, a demon hunter whose run in with a giant frog sets him on a quest for the mystical sword, Moegi. Soon enough he has discovered the sword's keepers, a young girl named Kaede and her miniature fire demon father, Kurenai. After discovering the sword along with the power to release the spirit of Kurenai (who, sans body, hops to the body of his daughter as his host) the three set off on a quest to find Kurenai's body. Along the way they meet other demons, slayers and a very cute kappa. At the end of this volume we leave off with our heroes on yet another quest that they hope will eventually lead to the discovery of not one, but both of Kaede's parents.

Overall quite an interesting story and I look forward to reading the next volume! ( )
