I grabbed the first in the series to read first, but this title could be read as a standalone. While it is nice to have the context of characters and landscape, the author does a good job of introducing those things to the reader in this second book as well. Layered with twists and turns, the mystery unravels with connections to past and present that are unexpected but delightful in this page turner of a romantic suspense. Hold on tight, it's action packed but also beautiful. Definitely made me want to book a trip to Alaska to see some of that beauty for myself! You'll really feel for (and with!) the characters as they experience pain and grief and genuine fear in situations no one is sure they will get out of alive. Overall, I am glad I added Elizabeth Goddard to my list of romance+suspense+faith - she does not disappoint! Excellent read for fans of Lynette Eason, Irene Hannon, etcetra.

Are you looking for a book that you won't soon forget? Try reading Elizabeth Goddards' new book, Shadows at Dusk! It's an intriguing tale of murder, deceit, and revenge that's set in Alaska, where beauty exists but danger is ever present. Bush pilot Carrie James is convinced that her best friend has been murdered and Detective Trevor West is trying to find his sister. Is it possible that there's a connection between his missing sister and Carrie's friend? Will their search for answers lead them to healing and acceptance?

This author's name is synonymous with romantic suspense, but Goddard has truly outdone herself this time. I was totally captivated, from the intense prologue to the very satisfying ending! I loved the characters, the setting, the riveting twists and turns, and the romantic chemistry shared by Carrie and Trevor. I also appreciated the subtle faith message woven into the plot. I highly recommend Shadows at Dusk to all who enjoy romantic Christian fiction and I can't wait to read the next book in the Missing in Alaska series!

I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts and opinions. ( )

Shadows at Dusk is the second book in the Missing in Alaska series by Elizabeth Goddard. This is a great stand alone story. This story is fast paced with lots of action and suspense. It is well written and very descriptive, it is easy to imagine the setting and danger. The main characters in the story or strong caring people who encounter danger everywhere. I enjoyed how Detective West is so determined to know what happened to his sister and will do anything to find out. Carrie is such a giving person, that she gives up her vacation and takes many days to help his get the answers he needs. This is an enjoyable story to read and see how their relationship develops throughout the story.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review. ( )

Shadows At Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard is the second book in her Missing in Alaska series but can 100% be read as a standalone.

This book starts out with a huge bang in the prologue and some of Carrie’s backstory (and wow, that event has most definitely shaped who she is in the present). By the time Trevor arrives on the scene, you will be rooting for him to reach Carrie.

This is a romantic suspense with lots of twists and turns, but those keep the story moving at a great pace. And of all the romantic suspense books set in Alaska, this series has become one of my favorites as the gorgeous setting becomes another character in the book.

I also appreciated that the characters acknowledge the high-stress, intense days they’ve spent together and how those aren’t necessarily a good foundation for a relationship. This is always something that slightly bothers me with romantic suspense stories where the characters have no history with each other.

Goddard’s stories are just getting better with each release, and I highly recommend Shadows at Dusk.

Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive or negative review. All opinions are my own. ( )

After reading Cold Light of Day last year (the first book in the Missing in Alaska series) I was excited to read Shadows at Dusk (the second and final book.) The author does a fantastic job of keeping me engaged and flipping pages!

I enjoyed both books in this series so much, but I think this one is even better than the first. I connected with Carrie, and the suspense is spectacular, making it super difficult to put the book down. I love how circumstances brought her together with Trevor, and how theirs was a slow and believable romance.

Even if I’d never visited Alaska before, (I’ve visited several times and loved it!) the author’s vivid scenes had me visualizing the setting perfectly. The danger was palpable, and the elements of faith made this such an inspiring read.

First Line (Prologue): The old cargo plane vibrated as the pilot descended into the airdrop zone, the turbulence shuddering through Carrie James.
