The final third seemed slightly rushed and some of the key scenes are a bit forced as the author looks to wraps it up, but for a story of this length that's not entirely unexpected. In all, this novella packs a lot of plot into a quick-paced story that leaves enough threads open to allow for a sequel or perhaps an expansion into a full novel. Given the quality of the writing, I'd look forward to reading that! However, the author started the story quickly & told the story effectively, & so I felt rather satisfied by the time I reached the conclusion. The writing in general was excellent. It did a good job of making me feel the emotions of the protagonist. I thought the characters were solid, especially the protagonist. I do think it would have been interesting to explore Blake & Brea a bit more, but with the length of the story, I understand that would have been difficult. There were also a few questions left unanswered at the end. Interesting concepts of what may develop in the future and the consequences of that.
Well written, I look forward to more writing rom Ms Leadley (
