This is a great book for emergent readers. I really liked this book for children to learn how to swim. The book shows that a chicken was afraid to swim but with a little determination and help from Hailey, she was able to swim in the ocean. The language was very descriptive. There was just enough details for the audience to understand what was happening in the story. The writing was very engaging. The story line was very engaging as well. I would have never thought that the main character would be a chicken. The plot was very believable. Children are always afraid to swim. After reading this book, they may have the confidence to do something they never believed that they could do. The illustrations help enhance the story by having realistic pictures to relate to their audience.
